Assessment of Team and Individual Work in Capstone Projects
Professors Lucienne and Bige will share about the issues of assessing student learning in Capstone. Assessment of projects can be challenging, assessing individual learning and outcomes in team-based design projects at the scale of Capstone add another layer of complexity. This session will spell out the challenges as well as some possible routes for improvement.

Investigating the Effectiveness Of Gamified Lab Simulations in Enhancing Biology Education
Lab sessions are often time limited. So facilitating and assessing student learning can be a challenge. This presentation will focus on the biology team's experiences in implementing gamified lab simulations in biology classes.

Classroom Response Questions for Introductory Programming
In this talk , Norman will describe the use of classroom response questions (CRQs) to teach introductory python programming in The Digital World Course. The CRQs are an integral part of the Peer Instruction pedagogy developed by Eric Mazur and they aim to elicit student participation during lessons, thereby reinforce specific concepts or confronting misconceptions. Norman will show examples of questions written specifically for programming, and discuss some learning points and future work.

Dr. Norman Lee (ISTD) & Dr. Oka Kurniawan (ISTD)
Dr. Norman currently teaches programming at SUTD , in particular, Python and Android programming (using Java). His current research interest is in learning analytics, especially in investigating the insights that can be gained by applying data-mining techniques to student data. Dr. Oka has been leading the largest Introductory Programming Course at SUTD from the year 2015 till now. He has been involved in several educational research involving how to teach computing using games, robots, and recently AR/VR. |
